In this new stage, the Llenando Espacios Foundation has decided to take a further step toward permanence and long-term work. From this recent momentum, La Biblioteca del Bosque was born—an initiative that has taken shape in the Bosque Calderón Tejada neighborhood, an area with nearly a century of history on the slopes of Bogotá’s eastern hills. Built largely through the efforts of its residents, the neighborhood has faced challenges related to recognition and access to services, while continuing to strengthen a strong sense of collective identity.
What was once an abandoned storage space has now been transformed into a vibrant and open community center, where people of all ages come together. The space houses a community library that has grown thanks to donors who have contributed books and materials, and that now operates actively with the support of a Foundation educator, who welcomes children from the neighborhood in the afternoons. The entrance to the space, once an earth landslide, was transformed into a welcoming access terrace through the joint efforts of neighbors and the Foundation, as community members volunteered their time and labor when they saw the project take root.
La Biblioteca del Bosque is a space in constant development. In order to remain open, active, and in service of the community, the Foundation continues to rely on support and donations that make it possible to sustain its activities and further strengthen this shared place of gathering.
